For as long as I can remember, I have had a love of children and began working with them over thirty years ago.
Before becoming a photographer, I was a registered early Childhood Teacher, among other jobs involving children. So, I get kids, and I know as a mum myself, that you as a parent want to capture images that truly show your children as who they are and to remember your children at a particular time in their life. This is why I choose to come to you in your home. Home is a familiar place for children and this known environment helps the child feel relaxed and themself.
There is no rush to get the job done in my photography sessions. I am patient and sensitive to the child’s needs. I understand children will need time to get used to me in their home. So sometimes I will just sit, chat with the child if necessary before even picking up my camera. I want everyone to have an enjoyable and positive experience, and if you’ve checked out my galleries, you will have noticed that soft, gentle, natural and neutral colours are what I love against young children’s skin.
Oh, and I just love sleepy little newborns, and find newborn portraiture extremely rewarding!
I feel privileged to be welcomed into family’s homes. Sometimes these are vulnerable and exciting times, special times of welcoming a child into their family. I am honoured when I am asked to return to capture the changes in their children, the changes in their families as more children are welcomed into their family and get to witness their growing confidence in parenting. I truly love how I get to spend my life!
Amazing photos – cannot recommend Kelsey highly enough. No fuss, no drama – the kids loved her and she managed to capture their personalities and love for each other perfectly. We are delighted with the images. Thanks Kelsey.
